UWRA PRESIDENT & CEO OPPORTUNITY
Position Statement
United Way Retirees Association (UWRA) is a national membership organization that keeps current and former United Way leaders connected to each other and the United Way network. It seeks a dynamic and innovative executive with a proven track record of setting, implementing, and monitoring, strategic and innovative direction for a membership-driven association. UWRA is boldly expanding its direction to harness the passion and experience of its members by leveraging their commitment to the betterment of themselves, through continued connection, service, and inspiration, and to serve as the go-to resource for advice, strategy, and interim leadership solutions for United Ways and their communities. The goal is to substantially increase the member base, expand its 20+ educational and networking events, create a pool of vibrant, wise, and welcoming colleagues and mentors, and mobilize them to assist local United Ways. The President & CEO will lead this strong, experienced network, a “who’s who” of diverse former and current United Way leaders who understand what it takes to move ideas and mindsets to the next level.
The President & CEO serves as the executive officer, responsible for all business affairs. This includes taking a leadership role and collaborating with the UWRA Board in developing an annual plan, building strong relationships with the organization’s various constituencies, and actively engaging board members and volunteers on multiple committees. He/she will also manage and implement UWRA’s communications and marketing activities and implement high-value programming content to meet members’ interests and expectations. The President & CEO will diversify and expand funding sources, including leadership giving, corporate sponsorships, and endowment building while growing UWRA’s membership base to include more diverse demographic segments.
The salary for the position is $100,000 and is an exempt, salaried 30 hour per week position in a remote-friendly work environment. The President & CEO reports to UWRA’s Board Chair and collaborates with the 16 members of the Board of Directors and multiple board level committees to implement the organization’s strategic framework.
