Membership in United Way NEXT is open to all who enjoy long-standing and strong ties to the United Way network. ​

United Way NEXT members are:

​United Way Alumni
UNITED WAY ALUMNI ARE INDIVIDUALS WHO WORKED AT UNITED WAY AT A PREVIOUS POINT IN THEIR CAREER PATH AND ARE STILL ENGAGED IN THE WORKFORCE, BE IT PART-TIME, FULL-TIME, OR FAMILY CARE. THIS IS OUR FASTEST-GROWING SEGMENT OF MEMBERS, AND REPRESENTS SOME OF THE TENS OF THOUSANDS OF FORMER UNITED WAY EMPLOYEES ENGAGED IN THE GLOBAL WORKFORCE.
United Way Retirees
THIS MEMBERSHIP SEGMENT CONSISTS OF PROFESSIONALS WHO HAVE OFFICIALLY RETIRED FROM THEIR FULL-TIME CAREER—ALTHOUGH THEY FREQUENTLY REPORT BEING BUSIER THAN EVER! OFTEN THESE INDIVIDUALS RETIRED FROM THEIR POSITIONS AT UNITED WAY, WHILE OTHERS SPENT CONSIDERABLE CHUNKS OF THEIR CAREER WITH UNITED WAY AND/OR FORGED DEEP CONNECTIONS DURING THEIR TIME WITH THE ORGANIZATION. BECAUSE UNITED WAY NEXT HISTORICALLY MOST REPRESENTED THIS MEMBER SEGMENT, IT IS CURRENTLY OUR LARGEST GROUP OF MEMBERS.
United Way Staff
UNITED WAY NEXT WELCOMES MEMBERSHIP FROM CURRENT UNITED WAY STAFF. THESE INDIVIDUALS HAVE TYPICALLY BEEN IN THE UNITED WAY SYSTEM FOR A CONSIDERABLE AMOUNT OF TIME AND WANT TO STAY CONNECTED TO FORMER COLLEAGUES OR ARE SEEKING MENTORSHIP FROM THOSE WHO CAME BEFORE. THIS IS OUR SMALLEST BUT MIGHTIEST SEGMENT!

THIS MEMBER SEGMENT CONSISTS OF LOCAL UNITED WAYS AND STATE ASSOCIATIONS. THESE ORGANIZATIONAL MEMBERS RECOGNIZE THE RICH RESERVOIR OF LEADERSHIP AND CONTENT EXPERTISE IN THE UNITED WAY NEXT MEMBERSHIP AND APPRECIATE WAYS TO DRAW FROM THIS RESOURCE. UNITED WAY NEXT WORKS IN CLOSE PARTNERSHIP WITH UNITED WAY WORLDWIDE TO INTENTIONALLY COMPLEMENT, ENHANCE, OR SUPPLEMENT THE NETWORK SUPPORT FUNCTION.
