What’s Happening at UW NEXT – 2024 is Off to a Great Start!

Last month, I had the pleasure of participating in the 2024 Great Rivers Regional Conference in Milwaukee, WI.  Spending time with local United Way staff in person from across the country provides a wonderful opportunity to connect with new friends, reconnect with former colleagues and spend time in the community.  This is always a cherished time for me, as a former UW CEO and UW Great Rivers faculty member.

Last March at the conference, I spoke about the UW NEXT resources available to local UW’s. Since that

time, countless UW staff have joined our community and benefited from CEO and planned-giving mentors and participated in the valuable learning sessions that NEXT offers. This year’s Great Rivers presentation was focused on Leveraging Data & Storytelling to Create AHA Moments in Your Community with over 100 people in attendance.

With Q-1 under our belt, it’s exciting for me to share that UW NEXT has already had over 517 individuals join our events. The momentum continues to build from the past year and is clearly having an impact on the people who choose to participate in our NEXT events. A special “Thank you” to our Engage and Exchange Work Group for providing such a robust offering of events and to the guest speakers for leading these incredible sessions. If you missed any of the past UW NEXT events, be sure to check out the recording links on this webpage:

Stay tuned to learn more about some exciting offerings that are being tailored for our alumni members. With the support of the Member Segment Value Work Group, led by Ann Fox and Kelli Kreps, our UW NEXT community is striving to engage more alumni and ensure that what we offer is of interest and attracts these individuals to our community. A special “Thank you” to Edwin Goutier, UW NEXT member and CEO of LaunchPath, for his recent support with facilitating a workshop for more than 40+ UW NEXT members focused on identifying the NEXT offerings for the alumni members. Interested in learning more about what LaunchPath offers as an innovative tool? Check out their website at: LaunchPath. Stay tuned for more insights from the Member Segment Value Work Group in the July newsletter.

As we look forward to Q-2, I extend my gratitude to each and every member who volunteered their expertise and support as mentors for local UW staff, and I invite you to get involved with this meaningful work. We have opportunities for UW NEXT members to serve as Local UW CEO and staff mentors. This commitment is 1-2 hours per month with flexibility working around the UW staff schedules--and most likely handled through a virtual meeting or phone call. It’s been a joy to see how our UW NEXT volunteers are impacting others and also how they feel the positive impact personally. If you would like to volunteer as a mentor, send me a quick note to my email noted in the signature.

I would like to extend the invitation to join UW NEXT for the upcoming UWW Town Hall on Thursday, 5/30 at 2-3pm ET. Be sure to register
HERE today!

May your spring be filled with joy, hope and sunshine.
All the best!
