United Way NEXT Position Title: Membership & Engagement Coordinator 

​Reports to: Chief Executive Officer   
Non-Exempt: Fully Remote Part-Time up to 15 hours per Week with occasional travel  
  
Position Summary: 
The Membership & Engagement Coordinator is responsible for fostering a strong and engaged alumni network by managing membership onboarding, engagement initiatives, and community interactions. This role ensures a positive member experience, supports retention efforts, and provides administrative assistance related to membership services. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and passionate about building relationships within a professional community. 
  
This is a part-time (up to 15 hours per week) hourly position with the potential to transition into a full-time role as the organization grows. As membership expands, this role may specialize in membership services, community engagement, or operations, with additional team members supporting specific areas. 
  
Key Responsibilities: 
Membership Onboarding & Support (35%) 
  • Serve as the first point of contact for new and prospective members, ensuring a seamless onboarding experience. 
  • Assist with the solicitation of new and existing members with a specific focus on identifying individuals who are retirees, alumni, or current United Way employees. 
  • Manage the membership database, process renewals, and track engagement trends. 
  • Work closely with the bookkeeper to reconcile Salesforce and QuickBooks Online 
  • Help develop and refine welcome materials, guides, and onboarding communications. 
  • Facilitate Making Connections (New Member Orientation) sessions. 
  
Community Engagement & Retention (35%) 
  • Foster connections among members through online engagement (Facebook group, LinkedIn group, social media channels, etc.). 
  • Coordinate member spotlights, testimonials, and success stories in partnership with marketing team members. 
  • Help facilitate virtual networking sessions, NEXT Chapter Chats, social hours, and other community-building activities. 
  • Encourage participation in mentorship programs, professional development sessions, and member benefits. 
  • Collect and analyze feedback to improve member satisfaction and retention strategies. 
  
Administrative & Operational Support (20%) 
  • Assist with invoices, payment processing, and tracking membership dues. 
  • Generate membership reports and analyze engagement data. 
  • Support event planning efforts by tracking RSVPs and assisting with logistics. 
  • Collaborate with the Marketing, Communications, and Events Manager to promote membership initiatives. 
  
Volunteer & Workgroup Management (10%) 
  • Work closely with volunteers who serve as planned giving faculty, CEO/staff mentors, workgroup members, and workgroup co-chairs. 
  • Serve as a lead staff member on the Resource Development and Member Recruitment Work Group and Member Segment Value Task Force. 
  • Partner with UW NEXT Team and Engage and Exchange Work Group to identify gaps and create programs that attract and retain members. 
  
Other duties as assigned  
  
Qualifications & Skills 
Skills: 
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a member-first mindset. 
  • Ability to build rapport and maintain positive relationships with members at all levels. 
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines. 
  • Proficiency in data analysis to interpret member behavior and identify areas for improvement. 
  • Experience in facilitating and leading successful member events (both virtual and in-person). 
  • Experience working with membership databases, CRM systems, or similar platforms. 
  
Required:  
  • Minimum of 3 years in a membership association, customer service, or sales experience. 
  • Bachelor’s Degree or some college credit required in Business Administration, Finance, Communications, Marketing, or related major.    
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, LinkedIn, and similar tech platforms   
  • Ability to travel for occasional in-person meetings and events.   
  
Preferred: 
  • United Way experience a plus  
  • Salesforce experience a plus  
  • Teams and Zoom Experience a plus

Compensation & Benefits 
  • This position starts at a rate of $25 per hour (based on experience). 
  • The hours are Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday (up to 15 hours). 
  • Eligible for up to 18 hours of paid time off. 
  • Federal Holidays that fall within work hours (Tuesday – Thursday). 
  • Professional development opportunities and free access to LinkedIn Learning. 
  • Potential for salary and benefits expansion with role growth.
